Phill is a Partner in our London office, specialising in catastrophic personal injury claims with a value in excess of £250,000 and no upper limit, representing defendant insurers, re-insurers, run off agents and other London market clients. Phill is a specialist in cases with maximum severity brain damage, tetraplegia and amputation injuries and has advised on new reserves in excess of £230 million. In the last five years he was instrumental in the settlement of cases with a combined value of more than £200 million. He has also had day to day conduct of, and settled, two cases in excess of £30 million, and has represented a multi-national insurer in the Court of Appeal.
Phill is experienced in identifying and managing more than 10 experts throughout the course of multi-year litigation and is a champion of rehabilitation and early intervention. He is well known for building the excellent relationships required to maximise an injured party’s recovery, even in the most challenging situations, regularly attending pathfinding and MDT meetings. Phill is also an expert in the use of statutory funding, reverse indemnities and periodical payment orders (PPOs).
He is ranked as ‘Next Generation Partner’ in Legal 500 2024, having previously been a ‘Rising Star’ from 2020-23.. Phill delivers regular training on all catastrophic injury issues, as well as e-scooters and automated vehicles. He is an advocate of new technologies and believes that the use of data is critical to the future of the legal and insurance industries.
