Chris is instructed to defend abuse claims on behalf of a variety of clients including insurers, religious organisations, charities, schools and sporting clubs. He also has experience of handling claims on behalf of various police authorities and offender service providers, including defamation, misfeasance in public office, battery, assault, false imprisonment (unlawful detention), offender lost property and malicious prosecution claims. He also regularly advises clients on related issues including policy coverage and Independent Inquiries. In particular, he has been extensively involved in the Independent Inquiry into Child Sexual Abuse (‘IICSA’) and Clive Sheldon QC’s Independent Inquiry into Historic Child Sexual Abuse in Football.

Notable cases include: Blackpool Football Club Limited v DSN [2021] EWCA Civ 1352; London Borough of Haringey v FZO [2020] EWCA Civ 180; and EXE v The Governors of the Royal Naval School [2020] EWHC 596 (QB).
