    Jordan Bagshaw, Costs Negotiator

The level of support has helped me to grow in confidence and progress and now I am comfortable in a wide-ranging role.

    Jordan Bagshaw 2

I started at Keoghs in 2012 as a paralegal which I did for six months then an opportunity came up to take a case handler role. I had my own case load dealing with claims for costs on low value RTAs, I also started working on EL and PL claims and naturally found myself working on higher value and more complex files at a pace which suited me. I then had the opportunity to work on claims for costs arising from judicial reviews and appeals of immigration decisions. I found myself with a varying workload which was demanding but fulfilling. The opportunity them came up to work on claims for costs arising out of clinical negligence claims. This presented a new challenge but one that I welcomed. The value of the files increased, and the opportunities increased including budgeting work and then advocacy when dealing with budget discussions at CCMCs.

I have never found myself short of support since I started at Keoghs. There is technical support available in the form of courses and regular technical updates delivered in easy-to-understand formats with slides which are then sent round afterwards to keep as a reference point. All those in senior roles are always available and happy to help and always give sound technical advice in a way that is easy to understand. The level of support has helped me to grow in confidence and progress and now I am comfortable in a wide-ranging role. I deal with clinical negligence payables and budgeting work at all values and undertake advocacy in occasional application hearings and regular CCMCs and am now considering if I would like to attend detailed assessment hearings.

Everyone I have worked with has been very easy to talk to, I have always felt included and comfortable. I like the role because I can look after my own caseload and make my own decisions. Support is there when I need it but day to day conduct of the files rests with me. COVID was disruptive but the business dealt with it well and now we have a nice mix of office working and working from home which has become easier since going paperless.

I would recommend coming to work at Keoghs and being part of the costs team. It is a great environment with great people, enjoyable work and plenty of opportunities.
